Questions and answers for applicants

The most important information on entry

The new Skilled Workers Immigration Act has changed the conditions. It is now easier for care workers, for example, to enter Germany from Eastern European countries that do not belong to the EU.

How do I obtain an entry visa as a citizen of a third country?

  • If you come from a non-EU country, you must have your vocational training or studies recognised by a German competent authority. The authority must certify that your training is in accordance with German standards. Sometimes the training is only partially recognised. In that case, you have the opportunity to make up for the missing content.
Costs: The recognition procedure can cost up to € 600 and sometimes more. In addition, variable expenses for translations, certifications, etc. must be expected. Normally, these costs are covered by your future employer. Under certain circumstances, the federal government, the state or the Federal Employment Agency may also support the recognition.
  • For IT specialists, proof of relevant practical work experience may be sufficient.
  • You must submit a concrete job offer from an employer in Germany.
  • The salary must exceed a certain limit depending on age and industry.
  • If you do not have a job offer yet, you can apply for a visa to look for a job in Germany.
  • You must speak German at least at B1 level.
  • If you meet all the conditions, you will receive your entry visa, which is valid for six months

How do I find my dream job in IT or healthcare?

If you browse German job portals, you will find that nursing and IT jobs are plentiful in Germany. However, searching for the perfect job from your country of origin can be cumbersome. We know the job vacancies in elderly care just as well as in IT. Contact us – we will endeavour to find your next job in Germany.

How am I insured in Germany?

There is a compulsory health insurance in Germany. This means everyone who lives here must have health insurance. If you enter Germany as an employee, you are automatically insured through your employer. If you have any questions, talk to your employer, who will take care of everything to do with health insurance.

Which authorities do I have to register with in Germany and who will help me?

  • The first thing you have to do in Germany is register with your foreigners authority. They will check your entry visa and your job offer. If all conditions are met, you will receive an employment permit that is initially valid for four years.
  • In Germany, there is also a registration obligation. This means that you must register at your new place of residence as soon as possible after your arrival.

We will support you with all administrative procedures in Germany. Feel free to contact us.

How does the integration into the new company work?

An important step in arriving to Germany is learning the language. Many companies sponsor language courses for their foreign skilled workers. Ask your employer. Schools and kindergartens also offer support in learning the new language. Take advantage of these opportunities for yourself and your family.

How do I find a place to live in Germany?

Have you found a vacant position in IT sector in Germany? Or a permanent job in care? We can help you find a flat in your new place of residence. Your employer will also be happy to help you; they know the local housing providers and portals. You can become active yourself online at www.immoscout.de and www.immowelt.de.
